This is the second place we visited. This place was very interesting, and I definitely learned something new!
These are some basic things about Islam:
It is built on five pillars:
-declaration of faith
-establishing prayers(5 times a day)
-give alms
-fast during the month of Ramadan There are also six articles of faith:
-believe in God
-believe in Angels
-believe in His books
-Believe in His messengers
-divine decree of God(fast)
-pilgrimage to Mecca
Also, there were also many interesting rules for proper etiquette when visiting a Mosque that I didn't know about until the day before the field trip. Some simple ones are to take your shoes off before entering the mosque, because Muslims believe in entering pure. They also carry around prayer rugs during prayer times so they can maintain the cleanliness. There are also different ways of dress than other religions; but for all, it is required to dress modestly and appropriately. Muslims cannot sing or talk during services because they need to give peace and respect God. They also don't believe in depicting any paintings and pictures of prophets. They do not believe in the doctrine of sin. There are many other traditions that go into deeper depth.
